Summary

Proteomic studies of the nuclear envelope from liver, muscle and blood leukocytes have revealed that the majority of nuclear envelope proteins are tissue-specific or tissue-restricted. Such proteins could explain the tissue-specific pathologies in nuclear envelope linked disease. The image is a heat map showing that many nuclear envelope proteins were found in only one tissue.
