The Wellcome Trust announced, on Wednesday 7 December, they will renew funding for the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology for five years. This prestigious funding award recognises the research excellence and the collaborative ethos of the Centre. Wellcome Trust Centres bring together world-class researchers to work in a dynamic research environment. Following an open competition, the Wellcome Trust decided to fund seven new centres and renew funding for seven existing centres. Funding for one existing centre was renewed in 2014 so it did not participate in the funding competition. There will now be a total of fifteen Wellcome Trust Centres; three of these are in Scotland.
