Summary

Proteomic analysis of muscle nuclear envelopes has identified many novel nuclear membrane proteins not identified in previous analyses of liver or blood nuclear envelopes.  The electron micrograph shows isolated crude muscle nuclear envelopes before the extractions engaged prior to proteomic analysis.  Note the double membrane structure that is pinched where nuclear pore complexes are inserted (arrows): this structure is lost after the subsequent chemical extractions
