Atlanta (Cook lab), Alison Pidoux (Allshire lab) and Hannah Wapenaar (Wilson lab) joined Sarah-Jane Judge and Maria Fanourgiaki (PE team) in a visit to Edinburgh College as part of the Scotpen Wellcome Engagement Award funded project, ‘The Fabric of Life’.

Students studying the college’s Textiles course have been working with the team (which also includes P.I.’s Tony Ly and Julie Welburn) to take inspiration from research images to create innovative and engaging designs.

The students enjoyed a hands-on experience using microscopes and staining cheek and onion cells and gave their expert feedback on the fabric patterns the team have come up with so far.

We look forward to welcoming the students to the Centre later this month, and of course seeing their final cell biology inspired designs which, if this visit is anything to go by, we are sure will be absolutely fabulous!
