Summary

In many animals including humans during female meiosis spindle formation takes place independently of centrosomes.  Chromosomes play a central role in spindle assembly. In this article the Ohkura lab uses live imaging to demonstrate that the chromosomal passenger protein Incenp has a role in acentrosomal spindle formation.
