After completing a PhD, Christopher now has his own research group in Glasgow. Born in Bishop's Stortford, UK, in 1965, I obtained a BSc in Zoology from University College London in 1986 and an MSc in Microbiology from Birkbeck College London in 1989. My PhD in Edinburgh studied the role of gene expression in controlling cell cycle progress in fission yeast. I continued this theme investigating cell cycle transcription in budding yeast at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Seattle, USA from 1995-1998. Since then I have set up my own research group at the University of Glasgow, where I have returned to fission yeast to explore further these cell cycle processes.
