Expertise in infectious disease research and a PhD scholarship drew Dr Seth Amanfo to Edinburgh. Still based at the University, the 2018 graduate now helps to manage a £7 million global health research programme, Tackling Infections to Benefit Africa (TIBA).

Extra-curricular activities and professional development courses enriched Kwabena Duedu's time as a PhD student. The microbiologist is now working as a research scientist and academic in Ghana.

Simona Nistor-Grahl's childhood in Romania brought her a passion for science, and led her to Edinburgh where she completed her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology.
