Some suggested reading for students on the Bioinformatics programme. The Programme Team frequently get asked “what should I be doing to prepare for the course, what should I be reading/learning in advance?” To these kinds of questions, we would say, “enjoy your holiday as best as you can, and leave the work until term time!”, especially since we don’t tend to use text books much, and most of the materials we might use (e.g. scientific research articles) tend to be online, most of which are freely available once you have a University login. However, if you would still like to dabble in some of the areas that will be covered during the degree, you could have a look at the listings given for the individual courses, whether compulsory or optional, that make up degree. For more information, please look at the Degree Programme Table. If you have done little or no programming before, I would strongly suggest you have a look at these (or similar).
