For those studying Biochemistry. Programme Director's Welcome The MSc in Biochemistry draws upon the strengths of our internationally-respected academics to provide you with a rich educational experience. You will learn to apply chemical and physical principles to biological molecules in complex living systems; this will expand your understanding of the molecular basis of the processes which take place within organisms. As you progress through the programme, you have the opportunity to develop focussed research skills that are transferrable to your future careers and that are attractive to prospective employers. Beyond the core biochemistry programme, you will also have a choice of a range of courses that provide you with the opportunity to tailor your degree to your personal ambitions and interests. These include courses from our School’s portfolio of postgraduate programmes, including Biotechnology, Drug Discovery, Synthetic Biology and Bioinformatics; and also courses from other Schools within the University. At the end of the programme we aim to have MSc graduates of a high calibre, capable of addressing key issues and challenges with confidence as they pursue a professional career in the life-sciences, in industry or government agencies, or continuing their research at PhD level. We look forward to meeting you in September. - Dr Janice Bramham Programme Director (MSc Biochemistry) Reading List Some suggested reading for students on the Biochemistry programme.
