Writing in the Biological Sciences 2023

The aim of this three-week course is to help you improve your confidence and skills in tackling your biological sciences writing assignments. The course is primarily designed for first-year Biological Sciences undergraduates who speak English as a second language, but should be helpful for other international students too. 

The course focuses on key aspects of effective writing in the Biological Sciences, covering 

• academic scientific style 
• referring to sources 
• structuring a report 
• understanding assignment instructions 

The weekly classes will be interactive with plenty of opportunities to work with and discuss academic writing with other students. Your teacher will also be able to provide you with feedback on the short writing tasks, answer questions that you may have in relation to academic writing, and direct you to further resources that will help with writing on your programmes.
