The appeals procedure. Resolving queries without making an appeal In the School of Biological Sciences, we have processes in place to ensure fair, consistent marking of your coursework and examinations. All marking is moderated. Larger pieces of work (such as project dissertations) will be double-marked. Marks may be scrutinised by Course Organisers, members of the Board of Examiners and External Examiners. If you are surprised and disappointed in a mark, we suggest you first look at any feedback provided, to see if you can understand why the mark was awarded. You are always welcome to speak to your Student Adviser. If further information is needed, they may approach the relevant Course Organiser or other appropriate staff. If there is a suspicion that there has been an error, then we would check the calculation and would, of course, correct any error made. Making an appeal If you decide that you want to make an appeal, you will find the process described on the Academic Services website. In order to submit an appeal, students must ensure that their case meets one or more of the specific grounds under which an appeal may be submitted. If you intend to make an appeal, please read the following link thoroughly.
