Our newest addition is a ZenoTOF 7600 mass spectrometer from Sciex. This fast and sensitive instrument enables high-throughput proteome analysis, even with low sample amounts. The first of the Discovery Research Platform equipment upgrades has arrived in the Proteomics Core. The ZenoTOF 7600 mass spectrometer from Sciex will increase the speed of proteome analysis, and its high sensitivity allows analysis of low volume samples, ideal for investigating low abundance proteins. The ZenoTOF also includes a new fragmentation method that can improve the analysis of post-translational modifications. Other DRP-HCB Core Upgrades Work has started on the modifications required to the Structural Biology Core to prepare for the arrival of the new ThermoFisher Scientific Glacios 2 Cryo-Transition Electron Microscope, which is scheduled to be installed and commissioned in September 2024. The Glacios 2 Cryo-TEM provides high resolution, high throughput macromolecular structure determination and is suited for single-particle analysis, cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) and micro-electron diffraction (MicroED). Its Falcon 4i Direct Detector camera captures high quality images while a Selectris energy filter improves image contrast resulting in high resolution structures up to atomic resolution.
