Interdisciplinary Culture

Collaborative partnerships between biological, physical and computational sciences.

The Discovery Research Platform for Hidden Cell Biology is embedded in the University of Edinburgh King's Building's Science Campus, with links to  Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Maths, Medicine and Physics there is a strong culture of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

The benefits of interdisciplinary research are promoted in training  our scientists, DRP-HCB researchers are closely associated with the Wellcome Integrative Cell Mechnaisms (iCM) PhD programme, where  students undertake interdisciplinary projects jointly supervised by a cell  biologist and a quantitative scientist from various scientific disciplines.

We aim to build on this established foundation of interdisciplinary culture and make the DRP-HCB a local hub for collaborative science in Edinburgh and beyond.
