Joining Teaching Communities and Forums

The SBS SoTL Community provides monthly events, funding, networking opportunities, teaching qualification support and relevant updates to support teaching development within the School. Resources and events are provided by the SoTL Committee to the SoTL Community on an opt-in Teams site.

How to join

• When is it- ongoing on Teams with dates of future events advertised on the site
• Who can join-anyone with an interest in developing their teaching, irrespective of your role within the School. There is an additional, private Teams channel to support those currently working towards teaching qualifications. If this is you, you are particularly encouraged to join. You will be added to the private channel on request (on Teams or to a Committee member).

The Learning and Teaching Forum provides interactive seminars from guest speakers on a wide range of pedagogical and teaching related topics. 

Speakers can be from within the University or other universities, or companies anywhere in the world, and are selected based on topics of current interest or relevance.

How to access

• When is it - The Forum takes place approximately every two months (dependent on speaker availability) and usually on a Thursday at 1pm-2pm. 
• Who can join - Everyone is welcome at the forum irrespective of prior knowledge or experience. 
• Current Forum information - is regularly circulated by email and is also available on the School's wiki.

The CSE Teaching Community is a college-wide community where staff can talk about teaching, share resources and support each other. 

How to join

• When is it - The group meet once a month over coffee/tea and cake and have a Microsoft Teams site to communicate and share resources.
• Who can join - The group is open to anyone interested in teaching, at any level. 
• To join the forum - use the CSE Teaching Community link below and contact either Dr Patricia Castro Sanchez or Dr Alan Hayes for access.
