EastBio Student wins Oecologia Ehleringer Prize

The 2024 prize was won by Jamie C. Weir of Institute of Ecology and Evolution, at the University of Edinburgh.

Dr. Weir’s paper entitled “Trophic generalism in the winter moth: a model species for phenological mismatch” (Oecologia 2024, 206:225-239; https://doi.org/10.1007/s00442-024-05629-5) has won the 2024 Oecologia Ehleringer Prize for best student research.

Dr. Weir’s paper presents a novel experimental and conceptual perspective suggesting that occupation of a broad trophic niche may help consumers like the winter moth exploit a narrow phenological niche.
