As one of the largest doctoral training partnerships in the UK, the East of Scotland Biosciences consortium unites globally recognised educational institutions, industry and research organisations. We deliver unparalleled research and professional training to emerging scientists, fostering the continued development of the bioscience industry, and invigorating the broader economy across Scotland and the UK. Lead by The University of Edinburgh, our partnership includes the University of St Andrews, the University of Dundee, Stirling University, the University of Aberdeen, SRUC, the James Hutton Institute, Moredun Research Institute, IBioIC, and training partners SULSA, SPRE, In2Science and Cool Farm Alliance. With over a decade of investment from UKRI BBSRC, our partnership, continues to flourish and welcomes up to 35 new students each year. Our 4-year EastBio PhD programme offers students the opportunity to become part of a dynamic research community, learning from internationally renowned scientists in state-of-the-art facilities and contribute to pioneering discoveries. Each student receives full tuition fee cover, an annual UKRI stipend and generous research grant.
