About the EastBio Partnership Image EastBio is the East of Scotland Bioscience Partnership. It was established in 2012 with funding from the UKRI Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). In 2024, BBSRC awarded EastBio a Doctoral Landscape Award to fund a further five cohorts of PhD studentships, co-funded by our partner institutions and industrial (CASE) partners. Our partnership comprises the institutions along the East coast of Scotland, a key region in the UK for life sciences in terms of both academic excellence and industrial support and investment.TrainingWe deliver world-class interdisciplinary training to bioscience PhD students and to build vibrant interactive student cohorts. In addition to providing enhanced training to our students, the partnership offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative research, access to expertise and research facilities across the institutions of the East of Scotland.EastBio TrainingPartner institutionsEastBio is a doctoral partnership consisting of the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh (CSE and CMVM), Stirling and St Andrews, plus Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), the Moredun Research Institute, the James Hutton Institute, the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC).
