The IUPHAR/BPS Guide to PHARMACOLOGY has been given a hidden REF award in the category ‘applications of research’ Image The SynPharm part of this was built by researchers in the Lab of Prof Jamie Davies, with funds from the UK Centre for Mammalian Synthetic Biology. SynPharm is a database of drug-responsive protein sequences, derived from the IUPHAR/BPS Guide to PHARMACOLOGY The hidden Ref is a national ‘competition’, supported by publishers, learned societies etc. designed to celebrate and recognise the range of important research achievements that may not fit neatly into a REF submission. “The ways in which the research impact is judged overlooks many of the people who are vital to the success of research. It’s only by recognising everyone who is vital to the conduct of research that we will create an environment in which to advance it.” This short Blog post contains a video of the online award ceremony.
