Dr Giovanni Stracquadanio awarded EPSRC Early Career Fellowship

Congratulations to Giovanni Stracquadanio who has been awarded an EPSRC Fellowship worth £1.35M on generative recombination enzyme engineering for therapeutics.

This will use AI and synthetic bio to engineer better enzymatic therapies for lysosomal storage diseases.

SynthSys member Dr Stracquadanio is a Senior Lecturer in Synthetic Biology and leads a multi-disciplinary research group based at the School of Biological Sciences 

The project is supported by a strong network of experts in synthetic biology and machine learning, in the UK and the US, industrial biopharmaceutical and biotechnology partners, such as Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies UK (FDBK) and the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC), and unique research facilities available at The University of Edinburgh, such as the Edinburgh Genome Foundry.
