The labs are a good way of putting into practice what you learn during the lectures. I really like the fact that it's ok not knowing how to use the machinery and there are always videos available on the Learn platform showing how to use them.

Academic Life

"Being in lecture theatres is amazing, I still have a hard time believing that I'm into one! The lectures are intense and sometimes it's difficult to keep up with taking notes, but they're always really interesting.  The labs are a good way of putting into practice what you learn during the lectures. "In the mornings I usually have lectures. The afternoons vary: there may be a lab or a workshop, or I might just go to the library to study. The evenings are usually dedicated to the societies: most of them have late afternoon/evening classes, making it easy to find a balance between study and leisure time."

Student Experience

"I joined the Music society (EUMS), playing the violin in their Symphonia Orchestra. From this year I'm also a member of the Modern Dance society (EUMDS). I did work part time last year in a restaurant - it was really intense and I probably managed to work and study at the same time only because my first year was still mainly online."

"I currently live in flat with two friends. It's in a really nice location, close to the Meadows and to the Central Campus, where the Main Library and my societies are based and it's really nice to just walk there, taking in some fresh air after a morning of lectures. I really enjoy being able to cook again (I stayed at a catered accommodation during my first year): I love baking and I often bake with my flatmates on the weekend - bonding time and yummy treats for the week!"

Top Tips

"The Main Library and the Magnet Cafe (JCMB) are my favourite study spots: both are quiet and I find it super easy to concentrate on my work! When I'm at King's for the whole day I like to bring my lunch from home (I recently found out that there are microwaves at KB house!), but there are lots of cafes all around campus with a lot of different options to pick from."
