Image Lorenza received her BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of L’Aquila and a MSc in Molecular Biology from the University of Parma, in Italy. During her Master’s she worked on structural properties of nucleosome recognition by the estrogen-related nuclear receptor (ERR) in the lab of Dr Bruno Klaholz at the IGBMC, in Strasbourg. She then moved to Edinburgh where, before starting her PhD, she spent one year as a lab technician in the lab of Prof. Robin Allshire, working on the development of a CRISPR-Cas9 system for the fission yeast.Lorenza joined the JP lab in 2019 as an iCM PhD student, jointly supervised with Prof Bill Earnshaw. The focus of her PhD research is the characterization of proteins involved in chromatin structure organization, with specific study of CENP-V, using a combination of structural and cell biology techniques.
