Prior to advertising events on these pages starting October 2023 the following events ran: Big Fat Postdoc Quiz (September 2023): As part of Postdoc Appreciation Week, BioDocSoc teamed up with BQPDS, Easter Bush Postdoctoral Committee, G2PD, PODS, & School of Informatics societies to offer a quiz night with pizza, drinks and prizes. SBS Concordat Series: Research Culture at UoE (September 2023): As part of Postdoc Appreciation Week, BioDocSoc organised this event with the IAD as an opportunity for postdocs to hear about the UoE Research Cultures Action Plan, and to have their say on issues that Early Career Researchers face, and UoE initiatives that would most support Early Career Researchers. SBS Postdoc Recognition Awards (September 2023): As part of Postdoc Appreciation Week, SBS Postdoc Recognition Awards were initiated as an opportunity to celebrate the diverse contributions of postdocs to SBS. FlexBio visit (August 2023): FlexBio is an IBioIC Bioprocessing Scale Up facility located at Heriot Watt University. BioDocSoc arranged two tours of the facility. Ways of Becoming a Member of the Higher Education Academy (July 2023): This event provided information and personal testimonies on routes to membership of the HEA. BioDocSoc Innovation event (June 2023): This event was an opportunity to hear about the commercialisation support offered by Edinburgh Innovations. Earth Day event (April 2023): BioDocSoc supported the celebration of Earth Day that was organised be the Sustainability Group. This involved workshops, games, food and drinks. Machine Learning for Protein and Chemical Discovery and Optimisation (October 2022): This social seminar was organised by postdoc societies in the Schools of Biology (BioDocSoc) and Chemistry, and provided an opportunity for interdisciplinary networking and collaboration. BioDocSoc Postdoc Appreciation Week event (September 2022): For Postdoc Appreciation Week, BioDocSoc partnered with Pint of Science, SULSA, and Proteintech to promote some exceptional postdocs in SBS, present some of the work being carried out to support researchers and improve research culture by the SBS Director of Career Development and the Institute for Academic Development. Professional headshots (July 2022): BioDocSoc arranged professional headshots for staff and postgraduate students towards supporting career development. Routes to Teaching (July 2022): This event provided information on the processes behind learning and teaching within SBS, opportunities for researchers to gain teaching experience, and routes to gaining teaching accreditation.
