Edinburgh Genomics - closure and relocation of activities

Edinburgh Genomics will close on 4th January 2026 as part of a move to consolidate services, technology and expertise within one facility at the University.

Genomics expertise and services are now available from the University of Edinburgh’s Genetics Core facility:

Genetics Core

This will create an enhanced, resilient and world-leading genomics service with experts from across the medical, veterinary and biological sciences fields.

As part of this move Edinburgh Genomics ceased running projects on 31st October. If you have a query about historic projects ran at Edinburgh Genomics, please contact: genomics@ed.ac.uk

Meet the Edinburgh Genomics team and find out how to work with us.

Edinburgh Genomics delivers high-throughput, next generation short read sequencing data from with Illumina technologies.

The facility operates the PacBio Sequel IIe and the Oxford Nanopore PromethION for long read sequencing.

We have a wealth of experience working with large-scale genomics data from all next-generation sequencing platforms, including Illumina; PacBio and Oxford Nanopore.

Our team and partners develop, maintain, and deliver high quality bioinformatics training courses on our campus and online
