What we offer

Current facilities for plant growth include over 2,200 m2 of glasshouse space, six controlled environmental rooms (>550 m2), smaller growth chambers and a tissue culture facility

Tissue Culture Facility

  • Tissue Culture Facilities for the maintenance and propagation of plant tissue culture materials
  • three temperature controlled rooms with 45 square meters
  • prep lab with laminar flow hoods.

CE rooms and cabinets

  • Two walk-in growth rooms with a total of 80 m2 of shelving. One room is running at long day conditions (16 hours light) and one in short day conditions (9hours light). Both rooms are most commonly used for the growth of Arabidopsis. Light levels at plant height are ~ 110µmol/m2/s. Both rooms run at a constant 21⁰C.
  • Five Snijders Economic Deluxe and two Snijders Microclima growth cabinets. Standard environmental conditions are 5⁰C-40⁰C temperature range with up to 250µmol/ m2/s  of light intensity.

The Grodome

  • The Grodome is a containment glasshouse with a small header house attached. There are three chambers, one which is primarily used for growing transgenic host plants and two smaller chambers for research into plant pathogens

Glasshouses and Outdoor Plots

  • Three heated and one unheated glasshouse within the facility with a total bench surface of 162m2 including 3m2 of an automated misting unit. Heated glasshouses are temperature and day length regulated through a TomTech control system. Light levels in heated glasshouses are ~150µmol/m2/s at bench height.
  • The experimental plots and pond provide considerable space (550m2) for growth and maintenance of non-transgenic plants under natural conditions.
