Isolde completed her MChem at the University of York and took a particular interest in materials science during her year in industry working on the development of solid-state porous materials. After three years of working within the life science industry, Isolde returned to academia to pursue her research interests in sustainable materials development. Her PhD research, joint with Professor Caroline Kirk in the Department of Chemistry, focuses on the development of electrode materials from biologically formed precipitates to establish a sustainable route for lithium-ion battery cathode recycling.
