I studied marine biology at University of Ryukyus, Japan where I joined a marine bacteriology group to learn about bacteria that cause food poisoning. During my undergraduate, I gradually shifted my interests to infectious diseases and disease control. Following my undergraduate degree I joined Department of Epidemiology, University of Tsukuba, Japan to continue my studies. As a masters degree student, I investigated the use of Neem oil to control visceral leishmaniasis in an endemic area of Bangladesh. During my time in Tsukuba, I also undertook an internship at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) as a field supervisor for a vector density study, a seroconversion study, and a questionnaire study. On completing my masters degree, I worked at University of Tsukuba as a promotion coordinator for international cooperation of Ho Chi Minh City Office in Vietnam. As a part of my job, I arranged scientific meetings, internships, and research collaborations among Vietnamese and Japanese universities and research institutions.EducationMSc (04/2007-03/2009) Department of Epidemiology, Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba, JapanBSc (04/2003-03/2007) Chemistry, Biology, and Marine Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of the Ryukyus, JapanPublicationsM.
